THE HEAT: A KITCHEN (R)EVOLUTION
Directed by Maya Gallus
Director Maya Gallus turns up the heat on the male-dominated cooking industry in her new culinary doc that follows several female chefs as they navigate their professional lives while recounting the sexism and exclusion endemic in the restaurant industry. Focusing on a suite of both accomplished and up-and-coming chefs from a variety of economic backgrounds, the film looks at the women currently at the head of some of the world’s top restaurants, and the next generation unwilling to submit to the brutal, macho conditions of the kitchen that were once considered the norm.
