Directed by Dyana Winkler, Tina Brown
A hub of social activity, contemporary fashion, and refuge, urban roller rinks and skate culture have long been an overlooked part of the black experience in America. Explore this subculture’s rise and fall with visceral skate footage, interviews with hip-hop icons, and first-hand accounts from black Americans who defined its importance. Hanging up their skates due to racially- and economically-charged reasons, these rollers valiantly attempt to preserve the culture of skating. In a time of great division, this documentary shows us the purpose and power of community.
